I have been formally trained in Fundations, Heggerty and guided reading. I use these programs on a daily basis in my classroom, as well as decodable readers which are aligned with the Science of Reading approach. I also use hands on activities to build my students' reading skills and strategies.
In math, I currently use the Envisions math program. I supplement this program with hands on activities. I teach my students how to become problem solvers and break down problems into simpler steps. I also build their math fact fluency.
I teach science with the Next Generation Science Standards. I am also currently piloting a social studies program that is aligned with the New York State Social Studies Framework.
I enjoy getting to know my students and building their confidence.
