I went through the whole test prep process not too long ago, so I remember exactly what it feels like to be in the thick of it.
What I've learned from studying the test extensively and working one on one with students is that the ACT is less a knowledge test than a pattern test. Most students who are struggling aren't struggling because they're not smart or haven't studied — they're struggling because they haven't figured out how the test is structured yet. The ACT is extremely hackable. Once you learn the patterns, scoring improves quickly. That's what I help students find.
My sessions are focused and low pressure. I start by identifying exactly where a student is losing points: specific question types, timing issues, content gaps. I work to address those issues directly rather than reviewing material they already know. I tutor high school students one on one, online or in person, and I adjust my approach based on how each student learns best. I'm patient, I explain things clearly, and I stay with a concept until it clicks. My goal each session is that the student leaves understanding something they didn't understand when we started.
