Hi! My name is Isabella and I'm passionate about teaching! In undergrad I pursued a double major in chemistry and mathematics. With a BS in Chemistry I also achieved ACS (American Chemical Society) certification. Not only did I receive A's in every science class I took, but I also graduated with a 4.0. In high school I obtained a 5 on all 8 AP exams I took and an 800 on the math section of the SAT.
During college, I was a peer tutor in the academic resource center for 3 years. Six of the students I worked with were on academic probation at the beginning of the semester. By the end, four of them were named to the dean's honors list and the other two to the dean’s high honors list!! I was also a TA for several general chemistry lectures and labs. Despite my own academic success, for me the most rewarding part of college was helping my peers achieve their academic goals. Some of the classes I have tutored for include pre algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre calculus, calculus (at the high school and college levels), SAT math, chemistry (high school), honors chemistry, AP chemistry, gen chem 1 and 2 (college), advanced gen chem, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and inorganic chemistry.
I am passionate about STEM subjects and would love to share my unique, tested strategies. I am a big believer that everyone can be a math and science person with the right teacher. My approach to tutoring is to ask questions and listen first. I want to find out where you're at, what you understand and don't understand, and how you feel about what you're studying. Sometimes students are completely lost and we need to go all the way back to the beginning, but just as often, they only need some gaps filled in, and some concepts strengthened. And they need confidence. My job is to figure out where the gaps are, help you succeed in your classes. I am a lifelong learner myself, so I welcome any ideas that you have for best supporting you.
