Hi, I'm Eric! I began tutoring at the writing center of my college, where I graduated cum laude with an English major and a history minor. While attending grad school for my MFA in creative writing, I continued tutoring, often working with students who had English as a second language. I went on to teach writing as a lecturer at the college level. Throughout my career, I've worked for a wide variety of publications as a writer and/or editor, as well as a mentor for other writers and editors. I had an extended stint as the senior copy editor at an e-learning company, and, most recently, I've focused on one-on-one advising for high school students writing their college application essays.

In my writing and editing, I've always focused on clear, concise, and engaging content, and I take the same approach to my tutoring and essay advising. I'll help you improve your writing by building on your strengths and honing your skills. For college application essays, I'll provide the support you need to get the attention of your top schools. I can advise you on any college application essay, from the main Common App essay to school/topic-specific supplemental essays. From brainstorming to final edits or anywhere in between, I'll guide you through the process of creating standout essays that best represent you.

Aside from college essay advising, I also tutor more generally in English, reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary. I'm flexible, friendly, and approachable, and I enjoy having a relaxed and fun atmosphere for my sessions. I'm highly responsive, a good communicator, and happy to answer any questions. Feel free to contact me with any inquiries or to schedule a session!

Creative Writing

While attending college and grad school (for my MFA in Creative Writing), I regularly tutored, often working with students who had English as a second language. I went on to teach writing as a lecturer at the college level. Throughout my career, I’ve worked for a wide variety of publications as a writer and/or editor, as well as a mentor for other writers and editors. I take an editor's approach to creative writing, finding the essence of what makes a story or poem work, and I'm also finishing my first novel.

I was a writing tutor in college and grad school, often working with students who have English as a second language. I went on to teach writing as a lecturer at the college level. I’ve also worked for a wide variety of publications as a writer and/or editor, and I had an extended stint as the senior copy editor at an e-learning company. Most recently, I’ve focused on one-on-one advising for high school students writing their college application essays. In general, I'm adept at helping writers shape their words into concise and engaging essays.
