Hello, my name is Zach. I have been appointed as a Political Science lecturer at CUNY beginning in Fall 2026, where I will teach undergraduate courses in global politics and international affairs. I hold a Master’s degree in Political Science from CUNY, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Linguistics, Anthropology, and Computer Science. I have also scored in the 95th percentile on the GRE Verbal Reasoning section. This background has given me extensive experience in analytical reading, academic writing, research, and standardized test preparation.
My teaching experience began after completing my undergraduate degrees in Linguistics and Anthropology, when I moved to China and worked as an English teacher. I taught students of different ages and backgrounds, including privately tutoring adults seeking to improve their English communication skills and younger students preparing for academic opportunities. I helped students strengthen their English abilities, build confidence, and prepare successful applications to competitive American high schools. My teaching approach focuses on adapting lessons to each student’s needs, explaining complex concepts clearly, and helping students develop independent learning skills.
After returning to the United States, I completed a second bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and worked as a software engineer for six years before returning to academia. This experience strengthened my ability to approach difficult problems from multiple perspectives and communicate complex ideas clearly. Through my teaching, research, and tutoring experience, I help students improve their writing, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and test-taking strategies. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals, whether preparing for the GRE, improving academic skills, or developing a deeper understanding of global politics and the social sciences.
