About Dawud

Bio

As a native African American who began studying Arabic in 1976, I possess extensive knowledge of the do's and don'ts, mistakes, mishaps, and time-wasters related to Arabic grammar, morphology, and rhetorical eloquence. I have studied with UN translators, commonly referred to as revisors, and in the early 1980s, I volunteered as a tutor for Arabic students at NYU for three months, with the approval of the late Professor R. Bayly Winder, who served as the first chair of the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Literatures, and Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert D. McChesney at New York University.

I completed a two-year Arabic certificate from the Islamic University of Al-Madinah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in just one year, during which the medium of instruction was Arabic.

I have resided a total of five years in Arabic-speaking countries and am well-acquainted with the language from secular, cultural, and religious perspectives.

With almost five decades of teaching and tutoring experience, I am an excellent choice for any student who wishes to understand Arabic grammar and morphology from a native English speaker's perspective. My assistance will be engaging, educational, enlightening, energetic, and often entertaining!

I aim to help students maximize their benefits from their Arabic classes and understand this beautiful language in a way that will stay with them for years to come.
