About Jay

Bio

Hi, my name is Jay and I'm a 4th-year management information systems student with a minor in communications. I've been doing public speaking since 7th grade and since then I've had numerous experiences with communications, from business meetings to public speakings and presentations. I truly enjoy what I do, and I've recently found a passion for teaching others what I've learned over my years.

Of courses just having knowledge isn't enough to teach but I've had experiences teaching all age ranges. I've taught 6-8th graders public speaking at a summer school and I've also had experience teaching college students. I work primarily on writing/practicing presentations and can offer tips on tone, body language, and speaking.

Approved Subjects

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I've taken multiple public speaking and communications classes throughout my years at college and I've achieved a minor in communications. From giving speeches in front of many people to studying the way people speak and why my studies have been extensive. Of course, just studying the subject is not enough so over the summer I was a public speaking teacher for 6-8th graders at a summer camp. I believe these experiences qualify me as a tutor.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I have experience teaching younger kids (grades 6-8) in vocabulary and English. I have helped them tutor for all kinds of tests including the regents, ISEE, IB, and more. I like to take a slower approach and help people understand exactly why something is the way it is and I find this is the best way to teach vocabulary.

Energetic and engaging tutor

Jay was full of energy. He made great effort in engaging my son throughout the lesson. My son was entertained by his demo of the speech. He incorporated several of Jay's suggestions and gestures into his speech. His speech became much more lively and interesting after Jay's coaching.
