Hello, I'm Kaila! I have a PhD and MSc in Astrophysics and a BS in Physics with minors in Mathematics and Astronomy. I've spent a lot of time in the classroom, and I've realized that a good teacher makes all the difference. My favorite classes have been those with engaging professors that cared deeply about instilling understanding and went the extra mile when I didn't understand a topic. I try to bring this philosophy to my own tutoring and work to create a safe and supportive learning...
I try to bring this philosophy to my own tutoring and work to create a safe and supportive learning environment where students learn the "why", not just the "how".
I have 7 semesters of experience as a teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate level physics and astrophysics and 3 years of experience tutoring math and English for middle school, high school, undergraduate, and nontraditional students. I have worked with the IB curriculum and tutored across 2 countries. I've learned that every student is different, so I tailor my approach for the student's individual needs. I welcome any resources or suggestions parents/students can provide to make the tutoring experience positive and educational. I like to start by assessing the student's current comfort level and learning goals via conversation and recent work (if applicable). We can then dive into the specifics and work together to fill in the gaps and gain new skills.
I tutor physics, astrophysics, and mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, complex analysis, etc.).
