Hi, y’all! My name is Archita, and I graduated magna cum laude in Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Rochester. I am also part of a combined eight-year BS/MD program. As a 1st year medical student, I bring a deep love for learning and a firsthand understanding of students' academic challenges. I’ve been passionate about helping students succeed for over eight years.

I’ve helped students prepare for the ACT, SAT, and AP exams by providing tailored study sessions that focus on practice questions, test-taking strategies, and strengthening areas of weakness. With a 36 on the ACT and a 5 on multiple AP exams, including AB and BC Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, and English Language and Literature, I know what it takes to excel on these tests. My goal is to help students feel confident and well-prepared with the tools they need to succeed on exam day.

I was a Teaching Assistant for the past 2.5 years in introductory biology courses, biochemistry, and human physiology. I’ve held weekly workshops and exam review hours for students to strengthen concepts and graded their exams. I’ve gained experience in breaking down complex ideas in ways that are easy to understand, always focusing on advocating for students.

I’ve also tutored students one-on-one at the University of Rochester Learning Center in subjects like pre-calculus, calculus, and various biology courses. I make it a priority to tailor each session to a student’s needs, whether that’s helping them understand tricky concepts, tackle homework problems, or prepare for exams. My approach is to break down tough topics into manageable pieces, building understanding and boosting confidence. This allows students to not only succeed in their immediate assignments but also gain the skills to tackle future challenges on their own.

Whether you’re struggling with biology, math, or exam prep, I’m here to help you understand the material and build the skills you need to excel. Let’s work together to achieve your academic goals!

As someone who scored a full composite score on the ACT in one sitting, I understand that anyone can crack the test- it's just a matter of understanding the small group of concepts they test and finding the perfect strategies that work for you! I have experience in coaching students in ACT and with the grammar rules tested on the exam and can work with you to create a gameplan to increase your ACT score and reach your goals!

I have gotten a 36 on the ACT and have experience in tutoring others with the ACT sections as well. I know that if we work together with consistent practice and a developed strategy gameplan, you can increase your ACT score! In terms of concepts and qualifications in math, I have been a tutor through the University of Rochester for various math courses, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I was also an AVID math (ACT/SAT prep) tutor in high school and have over 8 years of experience in guiding students through various math concepts and test-taking strategies, as well as won several math competitions in high school.
ACT Reading

ACT Reading

If you are having trouble with certain types of questions or getting to all of the passages on time, you have come to the right place! My name is Archita, and I got a perfect score on ACT reading (36) and have extensive experience in helping students improve their scores. My outline for studying for ACT Reading has three stages. The first stage is where students tell me their goals and come to me with a practice ACT reading test that they took before the session so we can identify the areas of improvement. The second stage is about strengthening those areas of improvement and finding the right concept and timing strategies to fix them, where I also assign practice passages and questions for consistent practice. The third stage is about pinpointing the strategies that will you answer questions quickly with high accuracy. By the end of our sessions, you will have a personalized gameplan for the ACT and can confidently approach every ACT reading question with ease and speed!

ACT Science

Is finishing the exam on time or solving certain types of questions an issue for you? I can help! I have a perfect score on the ACT Science section & overall (36/36) and have experience teaching students about both the concepts and testing strategies for ACT Science. One tip I have is to cross out the answers you know are incorrect in science to avoid second guessing yourself later on through the question! With persistent practice and creating a personalized strategy gameplan, I know that I can help you increase your ACT score and reach your goals!
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Does seeing letters like X and Y in a math equation make you unsure of whether you are studying Math or English? I can help you shine the light on these units and turn these scary expressions into harmless equations and recognizable graphs. As someone with over eight years of teaching experience in Algebra 1, I love watching students having Eureka moments during my sessions and gaining the confidence and academic skills to tackle any problem that comes their way. My goal is to both guide students through understanding foundational math concepts but also help them with gaining the study skills and persistence in math that serves students beyond Algebra 1. In terms of my qualifications, I have been a tutor through the University of Rochester for many different math courses, including algebra I, algebra II, pre-Calculus and Calculus. I was also an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Tutor for middle school and high school students of all math backgrounds. I am confident that if we work together, you will start to see the beauty in math and be ready to answer any problem that comes your way!
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I not only got an A in Algebra 2 but also have taught for over eight years to students of all math backgrounds. The concepts that I can cover in Algebra 2 include but are not limited to are: quadratic inequalities, sketching polynomial graphs based on properties (i.e. asymptotes, direction, intercepts, etc.) derived from the equation, factoring/expanding polynomial expressions, writing partial fractions, understanding logarithmic rules and expressions, simplifying rational expression, writing partial fractions, understanding conics (ellipses, hyperbola, parabola, circle) when presented with equations or word problems, binomial theorem and probability (permutations and combinations), understanding exponential and logarithmic functions, etc.
Anatomy

Anatomy

Does the large chart of muscles and their origins/insertions scare you? Are you worried about telling the difference between the left and right femur during lab exams? I can provide you the support you are looking for to make anatomy easier to manage and become a course to enjoy! I not only got an A+ in undergraduate Principles of Human Anatomy (BIOL 217)- I have extensive teaching experience in the subject too. I have guided students through material covered in their lab practicals, where students can only look and not move any of the structures while labeling the different markings flagged. I have techniques to quickly recall the various muscles' origins, insertions, and actions. I prepped students for lecture-based exams, where the cellular components and the mechanism in which these various structures from lab and lecture work together are discussed. I've also performed dissections at the University of Rochester to identify the different organs, muscles, bones, and tissue present in humans, as well as a few extra muscles and structures present in cats. All of this information can feel daunting at first, but I recommend sketching out diagrams for various body structures like the leg at different angles to get a better perspective and for practice with labeling!
Biology

Biology

Is the Krebs cycle causing your head to spin? I am here to help turn these complicated sounding phrases into easy, applicable concepts that you can understand! I majored in Cell and Developmental Biology and helped over 200 students in all of my classes. I have a full score on the AP biology exam (5) and 1000+ teaching hours as a Biology Department Teaching Assistant with a 5/5 average rating from all of my students. Calculus

Calculus

Stuck on a math problem because you don't know where to start or what to use? I've got you covered! Calculus is like a toolbox. You learn all types of techniques, such as derivatives and integrals, that serve as your tools- it's all about knowing when to use each tool. I will help you every step of the way to become an expert at these tools. At the end of our sessions, you will understand why we set up a derivative one way for an optimization problem, or how we know to use trig substitution for a certain integral. My teaching experience is extensive. I first served as an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) tutor in math (algebra I to calculus) for high school students of all backgrounds. I also served as an official college tutor hired by the University of Rochester for all math courses up to advanced Calculus 2. In terms of my foundational knowledge, I have a full score on the AP AB and BC Calculus Exams (5) and have won several math competitions. My advice is that although there are thousands of ways to approach calculus, understanding why we use a tool or skill will help you with finding an approach that works for you. I can provide you with the support so that you can excel in calculus and reach your goals!

Physiology

Physiology

You've taken a great first step by reaching out for extra support. Physiology as a subject can feel challenging with the sheer amount of material to remember and understand. This is where I can lend a helping hand! I am an expert at approaching body systems like salivary amylase: breaking it down into easy to process bites of information. I will also teach you strategies to make learning physiology more digestible and a fun learning experience! Here are my qualifications: I have gotten an A+ in undergraduate human physiology and taught 50+ students physiology. As a teaching assistant selected by the professor, I have experience teaching in packed recitations about all the body systems [Integumentary System, Skeletal System, Muscular System, Nervous System, Endocrine System, Cardiovascular System, Lymphatic/Immune System, Respiratory System, Digestive System, Urinary System, and Reproductive Systems]. I have also graded exams, so I know what types of information that professors are looking for to score full points on a question. One of my tips is to look for patterns throughout the units (this especially helps with hormones). The patterns will connect across units and body systems. With my support, you can also understand how physiology is fascinating and excel in the class and beyond!

Extremely engaged and quick learner

Archita is a class act. I was looking for a tutor to help with organizational writing -- not only did she acutely identify where my project needed structural improvement, but she also took the time to educate herself in the relevant topics. She went above and beyond -- which resulted in a very successful essay. Cannot recommend enough!

great teacher!

My daughter is a sophomore in an accelerated AP precalc/calculus A class. She is generally a straight A student but was finding herself struggling for the first time with this class. She was wary as this was her first tutoring session ever and she was tired after a long day of school and varsity tennis practice. She came out of a 2.5 hour session with Archita with a smile on her face excited she understood the concepts much better and feeling much more confident about the material. Also this is a session we booked the day before and she was able to work around Eleanor’s tight schedule and get her in last minute in the evening. And she was willing to stay an hour above what we originally booked to make sure Eleanor could understand the concepts. Thank you Archita!
