A New York State certified teacher, my M.A. and B.A. degrees are from Long Island University. I have over 15 years as a traditional classroom teacher and over six years as a private tutor.
I have over three decades developing language arts, social studies, test-prep, tutoring, and journalism programs and curricula for private and public schools; state departments of education; universities; educational publishers; test-prep companies—I’ve even mentored and taught fellow educators.
(Learning how test-makers make those standardized exams has definitely given my students an advantage.)
My philosophy of education is simple: Everyone can learn. Period!
Many educators teach using whatever style or system works best for them as teachers. When I work with students my approach is to find what style of learning works best for the student!
Oh … And I’ve been known to make the process fun, too!
Born in New York City, English was not my first language, and I have been lucky to have lived abroad and to have traveled during my lifetime.
Teaching and writing are two careers from which I’d never want to retire. Both bring me joy! And so many of my former students remind me that their time with me made a difference!
