Hi my name is Tamanna, I am an undergraduate freshman student in CUNY York College. My major is Childhood Education, specifically English. I have experience towards tutoring due to joining after school tutoring programs in high school where I tutored students ages 13 to 17 with their English classes. I also have a variety of experiences within younger students, such as elementary grade, due to more tutoring programs in high school where I would go to an elementary school and help students with their grammar, vocabulary, writing, handwriting and even more. My passion for English is huge, I have great patience with this subject due to knowing not everyone will adapt very quickly however with hard work and patience, anyone can be great in this subject! I have a great amount of experience with writing and reading due to my college English courses which led to me being very experienced within writing perfect essay. Throughout high school I graduate with honors awards as well as great success with working as a team and being a very understanding peer.
My approaches with tutoring a student varies within ages. I have patience overall no matter the age or grade one is enrolled in however towards elementary school students since I had experience with baby sitting as well, I approach with a more fun approach such as showing videos as well as creative worksheets that will help with their vocabulary and grammar. When one does not put effort into making their teaching fun, it won’t give students the desire and determination that they will and can do great. With middle school towards high school students I want them to feel that I understand them such as their age and position they are in. Feeling stressed is okay and when a student have doubts, I remind them that with the hard work they put in, one can definitely succeed. With such passion I have towards English as a whole subject, I will be a great choice for a tutor, my experience, my patience, my knowledge and understanding will surely help impact another!
