Hello, my name is Heidi and I am a certified Special Education Elementary Teacher who has been teaching for over 5 years . I received my Bachelor’s at Queens College and my Master’s at Touro University. I am fluent in Spanish and most of my educational experience has been in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom as well as in a Special class 12:1+1 classroom setting. As a Teacher, I have collaborated with other colleagues and paraprofessionals to provide an academic and emotional supportive learning environment. All students have different learning styles so I use different educational strategies and modifications via small intervention groups so that they can progress, gain confidence, and continue to thrive.
Besides being an Elementary Teacher, I also have prior experience teaching at a Pre-K level for 5 years as well as being a Pre-K Director for two years.
Throughout my professional career I have had the pleasure of tutoring children for many years ranging from Pre-K level to 3rd grade . I specialize mostly in English Language Arts(ELA). ELA focuses skills in reading, writing, speaking, comprehension, listening as well as grammar, and critical skills. I also tutor in math ranging from grade Pre-k - 2nd grade.
My main focus are always the students and being able to help them by giving them the academic tools to succeed.
