Because we work so closely on one writing piece, I really get to see my students emerge as scholars with a unique, insightful voices. This is important at all levels of education, but especially in a Master's program, where the learning becomes increasingly project-based and self-directed.
I teach students how composition and grammar work to make meaning and construct information that's valuable and useful. In this regard, I explain why certain structural and organizational patterns make sense. What this does is it enables students to see how they can transfer these skills to a variety of writing experiences outside of my tutorial.
