Hi, I'm Patrick. I have a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Northeastern University. I have been working as a math and science tutor for the last 8 years. I've tutored science topics including chemistry and physics; math topics including algebra I/II, geometry, precalculus, trigonometry, and statistics; and test prep including SAT, ACT math/science, HSPT, AP Chemistry, and AP Stats.

My main focus has been one-on-one sessions, but I have worked with pairs of students and small groups. I have experience creating and compiling presentations, problem sets, mini-lectures, and homework assignments for my students.

I've worked mostly with high school clients, but I have had middle school and college clients as well. I believe my approach and expertise is what caused some of my clients' families to continue to work with me for multiple years and with multiple children in many cases. It has been a joy seeing these kids grow up, go off to college and achieve their goals, knowing that I was a small part of that.

I have taught recitation classes as a teaching assistant in graduate school, but I enjoy the one-on-one tutoring experience much more. I feel that it gives me an opportunity to get to know my students better, focus on their learning style, and tailor content to their specific needs. I usually start out with a "tell, show, do" approach when it comes to most math and science topics. However, I have worked with students with ADHD and ASD so I realize that different student have different challenges and I am comfortable changing techniques depending on the situation. I believe that having a good understanding of a topic means nothing if you are not able to effectively communicate ideas to your intended audience.
