Over my various careers, I have traveled to many countries, I am an avid lover of arts and music, a collector of DVDs and enjoys virtually all forms of music, Country to Classical.

Have been doing electronics since pre-teen days. Master's in Electrical Engineering, MIT. Continued interest in electronics, computers and media hardware as an adult professional.

CEO and sole owner of mediadogg Software LLC (http://www.mediadogg.com/shopping) where several of my software programs are marketed and sold. All programs are developed with Microsoft Visual Studio C#.

Now, regarding new engagements, I would like to emphasize the importance of preparation. My best engagements have been when both I and the student are adequately prepared. Today's technology environment is so complex, that it has become nearly impossible to isolate a particular discipline, because today's solutions require a close collaboration among many. Hence, I have now established a policy whereby I reserve the right to decline an engagement if I find that the client has not shared the appropriate information with me. For example, asking for help with C# and not revealing that the C# coding is actually done in the context of Unity, and that the project is, in fact fundamentally a Unity project. Sample project materials, relevant URLs, project work scope and expectations must be shared with me, before I can agree to a lesson.

I think even more important than my math skills, would be my ability to relate to young children. I have two sons, both of whom now have PhDs. And I have 3 grandchildren, ages 8. 6 and 4.

SAT Math Review

James helped me with some material I needed further explaining in. We also came up with a schedule to help me with math and computer classes throughout school year.

Ramya, 4 lessons with James

Patient and Knowledgeable Tutor

James helped me through the SAT questions I needed help with. He was very patient and throughly explained the questions making sure I understood the problem. James was quick to replying back and figuring out a place to meet up for the session that work for both of us.

Ramya, 4 lessons with James
Tutor responded:

Thank you Ramya. I appreciated the fact that you focused on the pre-lesson assignment. It allowed me to better prepare for a more effective lesson.

Great C# Tutor

I met with James to get a handle on the basics of C#. Not only did he help me meet my objectives, but he also showed me some Visual Studio tips, which I didn't even know I needed! I feel a lot more confident now.

Brittny, 1 lesson with James
Tutor responded:

Thank you Brittany. That was my goal. You helped me prepare for the lesson so that our time was more efficient, and you showed up on time and ready to start.

Knowledgeable and Very Helpful

James was very patient with me and understanding! He did a great job of encouraging me to find the answer first for myself before showing me the correct way of how to do things. I really appreciated his teaching style and definitely will be back to tutor with him in the future if I need!

Ali, what a generous comment. I distinctly remember wishing I had had a bit more patience in a couple of instances. It is a tribute to your maturity and focus on the end goal, that you stuck with it in order to extract maximum value from the session, and I truly look forward to working with you again. Generosity is a wonderful attribute.

Best tutor ever!!

Completed the assignment prior to the lesson and James helped debug and help create some of my GUI. James is very patient and helped me learn different ways to solve a problem. Best tutor ever!!

Lily, 1 lesson with James
Tutor responded:

My goodness. Thank you so much for the generous review. I have to say, it was a delight to have a student come to the lesson so well prepared!

Very helpful Visual Basic tutor!

First off, James was very prompt at replying and getting back to me when I first messaged him which I really appreciated cause my assignment was due on the same day I contacted him. When it got to the session, he was very patient and easy to talk to. He helpfully guided me through each question on my assignment and made sure I understood it. He knows what he's talking about and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest him to someone who needed help in Visual Basic!

Andrea, 1 lesson with James
Tutor responded:

Andrea, it was a pleasure working with you. And thank you for the generous comments. Your Windows skills and programming aptitude were quite evident, so our lesson was that much more efficient in helping you improve your Visual Basic skills.

Great Teacher

James R. made me feel confident of his abilities at the very start of the session. I am so happy I found a tutor of his quality and dedication. He was prepared and very attentive to my needs as a student.
