I have been teaching at a college level for the past 22 years. Originally an electronic engineer by profession, I became involved in teaching Telecommunications at a local college. Since then, I became a full time faculty member at a career college where I have been teaching for 20 years in the field of Computer Networking and Information Technology and Mathematics. I come from a family of teachers. My mother was an elementary school teacher for her entire career and my older brother became a teacher while serving in the military. I have 2 children who have become teachers in public schools. I personally have a passion for teaching Information Technology courses. I utilize my engineering and professional background to supplement my presentations using a hands-on approach. Students learn best when they can have an interaction with the computer related equipment that they are trying to master. I like working with smaller groups or even one-on-one with students that need extra help. I am extremely patient with students who may be experiencing difficulty in learning. I prefer teaching in a regular classroom environment; however, I have also taught in the on-line arena. Either way, my students have always been very satisfied with their overall outcomes and experiences.

Writing

In order to be a teacher, you have to be able to express yourself via the written word. For my Master's degree, I earned an 'A' in Technical Writing which came naturally to me after being an engineer for 19 years which required me to write a lot of technical reports and procedures. I have also tutored several students in basic grammar and sentence structure.

Takes time to make sure student knows the material

We went over electric circuits and he broke down everything so I wouldn't just memorize formulas but actually understand why things worked.

Richard, 3 lessons with Stan

Really Knows His Stuff

Stan's a great person and really knows his stuff! He is a great teacher and always on time. He also knows about other fields of electronics.

Antonio, 2 lessons with Stan

Well prepared, knows the subject.

Stan was very well prepared for our tutoring sessions. He asked for information in advance to prepare for our meeting and even brought computer hardware parts to our session to help visually with the topic. This was very helpful. I will continue seeking his assistance should the need arise. He is an excellent tutor.
