I have taught and tutored students from the ages 3-9 for 5 years. I am currently getting my Master's in literacy. I love to have fun while I teach. I engage all students and try to be as interactive as possible. I love helping students learn, grow and love making a positive impact on a students life. I am a passionate, loving, caring, energetic and most importantly, a FUN TEACHER! Helping students succeed no matter how young is my goal.

When it comes to K-2nd graders, it is VITAL to break down the steps and use multiple different methods and strategies to solve math problems. Patience is key.

There are many strategies used when helping a student succeed when it comes to reading. Teaching different strategies (point to each word, sound out the word, "Act like the character", etc) can help increase a students fluency and comprehension. Stopping throughout stories and asking high-order thinking questions can help students become fluent readers. Predicting, and pausing throughout stories is also beneficial. I would love to speak in person about the different math, reading and writing strategies I use with a variety of students.

Growing up with ADHD, it was important to use specific strategies and tools to help me succeed in school. Having positive and patient mentors was key in my growth and I now like to pay it forward and help students with ADHD and other disabilities (autism, emotionally disturbed, dyslexia, etc).

I am licensed in Childhood and Special Education (grade 1-6) and currently pending birth-2nd grade. I have a degree in psychology as well.
