Hi, I’m Allison! I’ve spent my whole life helping others — whether that’s students in a classroom, clients in a makeup chair, or my own family and friends. I’ve always believed that everyone learns differently and that sometimes, all it takes is someone patient enough to listen and creative enough to try something new. I hold an associate’s degree in science from Monroe Community College. I also have completed all coursework towards my bachelor’s (nursing, child development, and psychology) from St. John Fisher University.
I’ve worked in education as a paraprofessional and associate teacher, primarily in special education for 4 years (ages ranging from 5 to 21 years old), and it truly became one of the most meaningful parts of my life. I loved finding creative ways to reach students who needed extra patience, understanding, and encouragement. Watching them grow in confidence and skill — often after being told they couldn’t — filled me with pride. That experience shaped how I approach everything I do: with empathy, flexibility, and genuine care. I have taught Religious Education and Vacation Bible School through my church on a voluntary basis for over 10 years (ages ranging from 3 to 12). I’ve worked one on one with students as well as teaching class sizes of up to 20 kids
Over the years, I’ve worked with students who needed a little extra encouragement — some who struggled with confidence, others who needed help focusing or believing in themselves. I’ve learned that the best kind of teaching happens when there’s trust, laughter, and real connection. I currently work virtually, which gives us the flexibility to meet where they feel most comfortable – at home, relaxed, and ready to learn.
If you’re looking for a tutor who will bring positivity, structure, creativity, and genuine care to every session — someone who believes in progress over perfection — I’d love to work with you.

ADHD

When working with students with ADHD, I've found that breaking the lessons and activities into smaller time slots or chunks works best. And when combined with a movement break and/or fidget, it helps the students. I have also found that by approaching lessons from multiple angles helps as well, whether that means while standing up or trying to teach hands on and visual methods. I hold an associate’s degree in science from Monroe Community College. I also have completed all coursework towards my bachelor’s (nursing, child development, and psychology) from St. John Fisher University.
