I am an experienced New York City Department of Education special education teacher with over 15 years of experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and developmental needs. My background includes working with students with autism, learning disabilities, speech and language needs, and other learning differences. I am also ABA certified and have experience providing Early Intervention specialized instruction to young children in one-on-one settings. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong understanding of how to meet students where they are and break challenging skills into manageable, achievable steps.
I have taught students from early childhood through the elementary grades in both classroom and individualized settings. My experience includes teaching reading, phonics, writing, and elementary mathematics, with particular expertise in adapting instruction for students who need additional support. I use visual supports, modeling, repetition, hands-on activities, positive reinforcement, and explicit step-by-step instruction. I also use assessment data and ongoing observation to identify skill gaps and adjust instruction rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive environment where students can build both skills and confidence. I understand that children learn in different ways, so I tailor each session to the individual learner’s strengths, needs, attention level, and learning style. My years of classroom teaching, special education experience, ABA training, and one-on-one Early Intervention work allow me to bring patience, structure, creativity, and evidence-based strategies to every student I support.
