I am a certified English teacher with more than fifteen years of teaching experience in middle school, high school, and college settings. I hold a Master of Science in General Education: Secondary English from Elmira College, a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre: Acting and Directing from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre: Acting and Directing from Binghamton University. I also hold a New York State Permanent Certification in English Language Arts for grades 7 through 12. My background allows me to tutor students in English, writing, literature, reading comprehension, grammar, public speaking, and related communication skills with both strong academic knowledge and practical classroom experience.
Throughout my career, I have taught students in grades 6 through 12 as well as college students in classroom and small-group settings, and I have worked with a wide range of learners, including general education students, special education students, and advanced students. I currently teach courses such as English 9, English 10, English 12, AP Literature, College Composition and Literature, and College Public Speaking.
In previous roles, I have taught middle school ELA, Creative Writing, Theatre, and ACT prep, and I have consistently used methods that focus on clear explanation, close reading, writing development, guided practice, and individualized support.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students complete assignments, but to help them build lasting confidence and stronger independent skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking.
