In coaching communication skills, I've discovered that most people have tremendous upside potential - you can always learn new skills to become a more effective communicator and leader.

As you become a stronger speaker and communicator, you become a stronger influencer and persuader. Influence doesn't come from your title, but from the ability to articulate big ideas, inspire others, motivate people to take action, and focus others on the most important goals. The most important function of good communication is to translate ideas and concepts into action. Storytelling allows you to share knowledge, describe issues, and resolve problems. It builds trust with the audience and allows you to authentically connect with your audience, by putting the audience first and forcing them to listen. I have a unique professional background in business, higher education, and consulting. A passionate teacher, I am committed to helping people find clarity in their thinking, ideas, and message, and delivering them in ways that move your audience.

With a undergraduate degree in English, a MBA in Marketing & Leadership, and graduate certificates in technical communication and editing from UC Berkeley and TESOL from Teacher's College Columbia University, I believe strong communication skills are the keys to success at school and at work. As I transitioned to teaching after my career in business, I became focused on helping students improve those critically important threshold skills. I currently have a robust tutoring practice, helping TedX speakers and students of all ages improve their writing and public speaking skills. I have coached students of all ages and backgrounds.
