The college application is a stressful, confusing, and time-consuming process. Believe me, I recently went through it during the 2021-2022 application season! During the summer before my senior year, I kept staring at my computer with a blank Word document thinking "What exactly does the college want to know about me? What will make me stand out?" After many months of extensive research into top universities, and a multitude of applications later, I have a strong understanding of what each college looks for in its applicants. The admissions process is rapidly changing due to the aftereffects of COVID. Most private counselors/essay proofreaders tend to reiterate basic information that can be found with a google search. Working with an individual who has timely experience and knowledge of the current changes will be advantageous to your child's application process. My GPA and standardized test scores alone did not get me into schools like NYU, UCSD (where I have committed as an incoming freshman), Purdue, and interviews at Ivy League and T20 schools such as Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, Duke, Northwestern, and MIT. In fact, those statistics are the bare minimum in the post-pandemic era. Colleges want to see who you are as a PERSON, as it will affect your work ethic as a college student later on. The essays are the only way you can showcase yourself as an individual beyond a numerical value on your transcript.
I was also a former visiting student taking college courses for credit in SEAS through Columbia University's School of Professional Studies while finishing my high school diploma, learning and working alongside undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, I did more courses for college credit through Cornell's School of Continuing Education in their summer term. I am more than happy to share my experiences in programs like these, give you insight into student life, and help you get into the college of your dreams!
