Hi, I'm Cafui! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Management and Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises and a minor in Spanish. During my time in college, I served as a peer mentor to freshman business students assisting with coursework and guiding them through resume writing and interview prep. Additionally, I tutored students across campus in subjects such as Spanish, Writing, and Literature.
In one of my most memorable teaching experiences, I helped to teach ESOL to international graduate students! Working with people from various cultural backgrounds, helped me to adapt my teaching style and expand my worldview and perspective. In this setting, I exercise patience and easy, fun examples to teach my students. By combining elements of culture such as popular shows, music, or subjects that the student is passionate about, I am able to create excitement and a genuine interest in learning English or developing solid writing skills.
I have been learning Spanish for over 12 years and have truly immersed myself in the language and its associated cultures. I had the opportunity to live and study in Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. Getting to experience a variety of cultures under the Spanish-speaking umbrella, has also granted me the ability to understand the language from a cultural lens.
During my time in business school, I took courses and interned in a wide variety of industries including finance, accounting, marketing, and supply chain. This has allowed me to be able to tailor my teaching strategy to effectively tutor students both in coursework and career prep.
