Hi, I'm Yuju. I work as a researcher and urban planner in housing policy but love to teach students when I have time. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Education studies at Bryn Mawr College, and completed my masters degree in city planning at University of California, Berkeley.
I have been tutoring middle and high school students in a variety of subjects, including middle school science, English literature, and reading comprehension for over 10 years. I also have experience teaching and tutoring in SAT Writing and AP English Language. As a bilingual Korean-American, I am also skilled at tutoring Korean for any beginners or intermediate learners. Because I minored in education studies, I have been trained in curriculum development and lesson planning.
I also help review common app college applications for many high school seniors. I am happy to review both the main common app essay as well as any supplementary essays for different universities and colleges. My most recent student got into UCLA, University of Michigan, Brandeis University, and many more.
Though I didn't pursue a full-time career in education, I still have a passion for tutoring and teaching others. I have also published research articles and blog posts online for my work in public policy and urban planning, so I particularly enjoy writing and reading.
