August (they/them) is a music director, performing arts educator, and performing artist. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, August moved to NYC in 2021 to pursue their Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a minor in Educational Theatre at New York University.
August has worked as a private voice teacher for six years, teaching students ranging from young children to adults, all of vastly different experience levels. Outside of private lesson settings, they have taught group music and musical theatre classes in both online and in-person formats for ages 3-18 for six years. Additionally, they have music directed several musicals, and recently made their Off-Broadway debut as Assistant Music Director on Tisch New Theatre's production of Alice by Heart.
Outside of teaching, August's performance abilities have reaped success at local and national levels, garnering awards at state competitions and even a performance at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall. They have over a decade of choral experience under their belt, as well as numerous college courses, intensives, and masterclasses with iconic artists such as Sierra Boggess and Taylor Iman Jones.
August passionately believes in the power of music as a mode of self-expression, and loves to help students find healthy ways they can use music to express themselves and tell stories that are meaningful to them. They look forward to helping students along their musical journeys for years to come.
