Hi! I'm very new to Wyzant, but I've taught chess to hundreds of kids for over 8 years now using storytelling to help kids ages 3-13 understand the difficult concepts of chess. My current lessons are for kids at all levels.

Every hour long lesson has a ten to fifteen minute story that relates to the lesson, then great substantial chess content with examples and puzzles, and then we play each other online or in person as I evaluate and comment on their play.

My lessons for kids are never boring! I have over 8 years of experience with kids, playing, teaching and developing chess curriculum. Kids love and have a great time with me, as a comedic actor and experienced writer I make sure the stories and lessons are super fun and entertaining.

I have four and a half years of experience teaching chess to hundreds of kids in classes at schools and in one on one tutoring sessions. My storytelling skills come from me being a trained actor, with education at Brooklyn College and HB Studio in New York City. I gained experience working with kids by volunteering with NY Cares after school programs.

My daughter said she wants to learn more chess with Christopher after the first session.

My 7yo daughter said she enjoyed her lesson (a full hour remotely over a laptop screen) and would do it again. She liked his stories and said he was really good at chess : ) We are likely going to try an in person one next as well.
