I'm a University of Chicago graduate currently working at the Columbia Law School with extensive experience tutoring SAT, writing, editing and AP exams. I first started tutoring math when I was in high school, where I worked with local children with learning disabilities after school. As an undergraduate, I worked as a teaching assistant in World History and English courses at Dunbar Vocational Academy while tutoring all subjects during the lunch period. After graduating, I tutored privately in the NYC area for AP exams and was a CollegeVine essay editor and SAT tutor. My students routinely saw 200-300 point increases in their SAT scores after working with me and I worked with many students who had ADHD and other learning disabilities. I myself have attained a perfect score on the SAT and GRE and received a 5 in a dozen different AP tests. I like to use my own experience to help students master the tests, which I believe involves work on students fundamental skills as well as "getting to know" the quirks of each different type of test. I love working with students to enrich writing and reading skills and can provide a general education in classical texts and history.
I am also a Violist and Violinist with 16 years of classical training. I have trained under Ronald Houston (Southern Methodist University) and Doyle Armbrust (Spektral Quartet). I am a current member of the Chelsea Symphony, was the principal Violist of the University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and was a fellow at the National Symphony Orchestra summer music institute. I first started teaching when I worked at the JDR Violin summer academy in 2014 and have taught privately ever since. I play at churches and gatherings around NYC and provide music lessons to students of all ages from beginner to advanced amateur.
