Hi! My name is Anna and I love helping others with schoolwork. I first began tutoring in 10th grade, when I volunteered frequently at my high school's tutoring center. It was through this program that I discovered my love of teaching. Hi! My name is Anna and I love helping others with schoolwork. I first began tutoring in 10th grade, when I volunteered frequently at my high school's tutoring center. It was through this program that I discovered my love of teaching. My senior year of high school, I organized a science tutoring center at my school and spent a great number of hours volunteering there. I also started working for a local elementary school's after school math program, which worked with third graders who were underperforming on school tests. When the pandemic shifted everything virtual, I began virtual private tutoring. During my undergrad at MIT, I decided to bring my tutoring to Cambridge, where I taught a class of 9 high schoolers through MIT's Full Steam Ahead program. I also had the opportunity to work as a TA at MIT for math classes and biology classes!

I have spent a lot of time working with students of all ages in a number of subjects, and one thing that has been made clear through all my experience is how much I love seeing the look on a student's face when their grades improve. I love getting to know students through tutoring, and having an opportunity to help them grow. Many students do not like the idea of schoolwork, but I really appreciate any opportunity to make a difference in their life by helping them see it with a new perspective.

I have always worked very hard in school, receiving a 1570 on my SAT in high school, with a perfect score of 800 on the math section, and a score of 770 on the english section. I also received 5s in all of the AP exams I took, which encompassed a wide range of subjects. I recently graduated from MIT with a GPA of 4.9/5 and a double major in biology and computer science, with a minor in bioengineering. I have now begun a PhD program in Biological Sciences at Columbia University. One thing that has never changed throughout my studies is my desire to help others perform well academically, which is one of the reasons I love tutoring!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved Subjects

Computer Science

Computer Science

I recently graduated from MIT with a double major in computer science and in biology (with a GPA of 4.9/5.0), where the courses I took familiarized me with Python, R, and MATLAB. Additionally, I worked for 2 years as a researcher for MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, helping build a machine learning model that could investigate causes of racial disparities in healthcare. I also did 2 bioinformatics internships, one for the NIH where I used a supercomputer to comb through deep sequencing datasets looking for hallmarks of undiscovered viruses, and one for a biotech company that makes cancer vaccines, where I improved their tumoral RNA sequencing pipeline by building a machine learning model to identify false sequencing reads. Additionally, I did a 1 month internship for a local hospital where I worked on improving their website, giving me some experience with website building.
Genetics

Genetics

I have taken multiple classes in genetics throughout high school and college, and am currently enrolled in a biology PhD program at Columbia where I have taken Advanced Genetic Analysis. As someone who graduated with a biology degree from MIT, I have had to work on some pretty advanced genetics classes, and have grown pretty comfortable with the subject. I received As in all of the genetics classes I have taken.

Excellent!!!

My daughter absolutely loved her and her first tutoring experience with Anna. She received a perfect score on an assignment Anna helped her work on and explain how to do the problems. We will definitely be working with her weekly.
