Hello! My name is Anna and I have been tutoring in many different capacities over the past 10 years. My focus is SAT and ACT prep as well as general academic support, including APs and Honors courses as well as reaching across special needs spectrums with a certification in Orton Gillingham Stars and Stripes. I specialize in Math, Chemistry, Physics, and subject tests English, in addition to general academic support. I have been working in the New York metropolitan area for the past 6 years, but have shifted my services to operate fully online. I have seen huge jumps in the scores of my students and find great fulfillment in helping them achieve their dream score and grades. I believe that all students have to capacity to be successful no matter what the background or history might say. We are all capable of growth and achievement so long as we are willing to engage and apply ourselves. I help my students to believe in themselves, to motivate and to practically learn the tools they need to take them to the next level.
Being a tutor requires empathy and sensitivity, it requires us to listen to our students and titrate our skills to match their needs. Math has not always been easy for me and that is precisely what makes me a uniquely skilled math tutor. I understand what it feels like to be overwhelmed and confused, to hate math, and to not feel motivated. I was able to overcome these obstacles because of the incredible support and guidance that I received from a tutor when I was in high-school. Because I have been on the other side, I know what the journey is to achieving success in math despite ones history, and I know the value of great instruction.
