Applying to universities/colleges has never been more competitive or challenging. Learning how university/college admissions counselors review and assess applications and essays from someone who was on the “front lines” can provide a key edge in the application process.

I am a former college admissions counselor who knows firsthand what a college Admissions Office looks for in reviewing and approving applications. As an artist, I also offer assistance with drawing projects.

With my professional background, I am eager to help demystify the college application process for MHS students and families, and help students write very compelling college essays. I am also a seasoned writing tutor, working with many students in-person and remotely, and I am available for non-college application related writing projects.

I earned a bachelor of arts in East Asian studies from Occidental College, a liberal arts school with a strong foundation in writing and critical thinking.
What I enjoy most about teaching and mentoring students is providing a space for empowerment, creativity, and confidence. I challenge my students to identify their strengths and unique qualities and use these to craft the best college application essays. As a general writing tutor and proofreader, I seek to establish a lasting understanding of what we've covered in our sessions.

I worked for Occidental College's Office of Admission as an admission counselor, event planner, and student tour guide program coordinator. From this experience, I've become an expert in the college application process, and understand what goes into the best college essays. Through group presentations and individual meetings, I've become familiar with the excitement and concerns of both high school students and their families during the college application process. Given the shifting landscape of college admission during the pandemic, I've kept up to date with the latest trends and requirements from colleges and universities across the country.

I am a visual artist with expertise in drawing. In high school, I earned a 5 in AP Studio Art and an A+ in two studio art classes in college. The textures in my work are informed by naturally occurring patterns, using methods such as cross-hatching, shading, and curved lines to show depth and volume.
