Hi there! I'm Dylan, a Columbia University grad with a B.A. Magna Cum Laude in East Asian Languages and Cultures. For me, the most rewarding part of being a tutor is seeing the sparks of understanding, delight, and relief light up my students’ faces when key concepts finally begin to make sense. I know that each student learns in their own unique way. Hi there! I'm Dylan, a Columbia University grad with a B.A. Magna Cum Laude in East Asian Languages and Cultures. For me, the most rewarding part of being a tutor is seeing the sparks of understanding, delight, and relief light up my students’ faces when key concepts finally begin to make sense. I know that each student learns in their own unique way. That’s why I make it my priority early on to understand each student’s mindset, current and past approaches, goals, frustrations, and triumphs so that I can tailor the learning experience to their individual needs.

While my students often improve their grades throughout our work together, I also foster their curiosity, creativity, intuition and confidence. I strive to ensure that they truly grasp the deeper “why" behind each piece of information and have them explain to me not only the questions they get wrong, but also why their right answers are correct. This method serves my goal of enabling students to think rigorously, not just memorize formulas. When working with more open-ended writing tasks, I emphasize proper outlining, clear and effective grammar and punctuation, how to develop a strong argument, and how to avoid plot summary in favor of effective analysis. The way I see it, I succeed when my students strengthen the skills they need to tackle their assignments independently over the long term. -Near perfect scores on New York State Algebra 1, Algebra 2/Trigonometry and Geometry Regents Exams
-More than one year of experience studying abroad and working in Japan. Advanced to the highest level Fifth-Year Japanese language class
-5 on AP Spanish Literature
-5 on AP English Literature
-34 on ACT English, ACT Reading and ACT Science
- 32 on ACT Math
-Extensive experience workshopping essays for English class, college admissions and more
-Published as an essayist in the nationally syndicated magazine “Commentary.”

Knowledgeable and responsible Tutor

Dylan has been tutoring my son since June,2022. He is a very responsible, knowledgeable and creative tutor. Weekly he provides the reading materials to my son. My son has enough time to read them and writes the essay about a topic or his opinion. He has been communicating with my son throughly. Great teacher and very knowledgable

My daughter has been tutored by Dylan since the end of last semester to prepare for her regent's exam. She went from failing to now getting a 92 on her first test in Algebra 2! I am very happy with her progress and Dylan's help. He is also very flexible with his schedule to accommodate my daughter's busy life.
