With experiences as a college advisor, museum professional, English teacher, and archaeologist, I bring a range of passions to tutoring. As an undergraduate, I studied classical archaeology and religious studies and took coursework in education, English, history, art history, and, of course, Classics, archaeology, and religion. Now, in my graduate work, I focus more closely on ancient religion, art history, and archaeology.

I’m excited about getting others excited about ideas. Whether you’re doing great in a class and want to be excellent or doing poorly and need support to stay afloat, I aim to help you set goals and help you reach them.

Anthropology

Anthropology

Although my background is primarily in archaeology--a subset of anthropology focused on the material culture of communities from the past--I am also versed in broader extrapolations of the discipline, including cultural and social anthropology and ethnography. I studied classical archaeology and religion as an undergraduate and now currently work with archaeological material at a small museum in Manhattan. For three field seasons, I worked on the Huqoq Excavation Project in Israel's Galilee, researching ancient mosaics and mosaic installation-techniques. I was trained in archaeological field methods and theories, including field survey and stratigraphic excavation, on site and in the classroom. I took courses including such titles as: "Archaeological Field School," "Field Methods" "Archaeological Fundamentals," "Second Temple Period Archaeology," Roman Archaeology" "Greek Archaeology," "Classical Greek Art," "Archaeology of Early Greece", "Synagogue Archaeology," and "Egyptian Archaeology," among others. I now work with Hellenistic period coinages.

Art History

Art History

Currently, I work at a small museum with ancient Greek artifacts. Additionally I design and give tours at the Brooklyn Museum through the education department's Art, Research, and Teaching program. Art history, like archaeology, allows us to view the past through different (and sometimes even radically different!) lights. I have a degree in classical archaeology.
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

Studying classical archaeology and religion, I focused my interests in various topics related to the Bible. This included biblical texts themselves, as well as the material culture of the regions that first produced, constructed understandings of, and interpreted the books in Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. I took courses including such titles as: "Early Judaism," "Archaeology of Israel," "What is Scripture?," "Koine Greek," "Varieties of Early Christianity," "New Testament archaeology," and "Greco-Roman Influence in Christianity," among others.
Career Development

Career Development

For a year, I worked as a career advisor for college students ages 17-43. From this experience, I gained key insight into career planning and development, especially for high school and college students. Together we can: write your initial resume, develop resume bullet points, strategize for short-term and long-term career development, find and apply to jobs and internships, and engage with services such as job fairs and LinkedIn.
Classics

Classics

I studied classical archaeology and religion as an undergraduate and now currently work with ancient Greek archaeological material at a small museum in Manhattan. I completed coursework in Roman and Greek archaeology, religion, history, and languages--as well as in topics related to the ancient Mediterranean more broadly. For three field seasons, I worked on the Huqoq Excavation Project in Israel's Galilee, researching Late Roman, early Byzantine mosaics and mosaic installation-techniques. I was trained in archaeological field methods and theories, including field survey and stratigraphic excavation, on site and in the classroom. I took courses including such titles as: "Greek," "Latin," "Roman Archaeology," "Greek Archaeology," "Classical Greek Art," "Archaeology of Early Greece", "Synagogue Archaeology," and "Egyptian Archaeology," among others.
College Counseling

College Counseling

For a year, I worked as an advisor for college students ages 17-43. From this experience, I gained key insight into class planning, time management, and career planning and development, especially for high school and college students. Together we can: discuss major and minor options, review your course plans, review your credits, write your initial resume, develop resume bullet points, strategize for short-term and long-term career development, find and apply to jobs and internships, and research additional resources on campus and off.
English

English

I’ve taught or tutored English for the past five years.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Every Monday night for all four years of my undergraduate studies, I participated in a speech and debate organization. While a member, I gave speeches on a range of topics, both prepared and extemporary. In addition, I completed coursework in English and rhetoric. We can work on speechwriting, tools for preparing to speak publicly, and practice.
Religion

Religion

Studying classical archaeology and religion, I focused my interests in various topics related to both the general study of religion as well as the religions of the ancient Mediterranean. I took courses primarily related to Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Greco-Roman religions, but I also studied various methodological and theoretical approaches to religion. With an interest in archaeology, I often take an anthropological approach to studying the material cultures of religious communities. More specific topics I have studied include: Greco-Roman religions, religions in the United States, African American religious practices, Mary in the Christian tradition, and ancient Jewish religious spaces, among others.
World History

World History

With extensive background in world history and experience teaching, researching, and traveling around different parts of the globe, I'm excited to support students as they learn more about the world and the past.
