I received classical piano training from the Conservatory of Music in the Dominican Republic but I have since embraced popular music and playing by ear in order to accompany others. I received classical piano training from the Conservatory of Music in the Dominican Republic but I have since embraced popular music and playing by ear in order to accompany others. This has allowed me to play and accompany mostly in church settings, where I currently play on a weekly basis. I received training in Music Education from The City College of New York (B. A.) and Hunter College (M. A.). I enjoy teaching the beginner students (young and old) take their first steps in playing the piano and setting a good musical foundation in theory, reading and playing. I also enjoy teaching how to play chords and how popular music works so that the student can play to accompany others or simply play beautiful melodies for themselves. I also teach piano lessons in Spanish.

I am a certified Music Teacher in New York. I have 1+ years of experience teaching in the Department of education of New York (P.S. 46), as an Elementary General Music Teacher. I have 8+ years of experience as an independent piano instructor, teaching private and small group piano lessons to children and teens. I have worked with great public school music teachers in New York as part of my preparation process for obtaining qualifications.

I studied classical piano in the Conservatory of Music of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. I started in piano at the age of 8, growing up taking private lessons and attending a Music Academy in the afternoons (parallel to my regular school). My upbringing instilled in me a love for music and for teaching others. In my late teens I became interested un learning more about pop music and pursued a better understanding of popular harmony and keyboard playing styles. I can teach beginner and intermediate levels in both genres.

Patient and knowledge

I enjoy having Elizabeth as my tutor I have 3 lessons with her she is very patient and a very good listener. Elizabeth is very good at explaining she doesn’t rush she won’t move on unless I have understood what she is teaching. She is very understanding and has me focus on the areas where I need more improvement. I really enjoy these lessons and look forward for more.
