Hi! My name is Ilana and I am looking to tutor elementary school students in math, reading or writing. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in Gifted Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher at a private school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I have been teaching there for the past 3 years and have previously taught Kindergarten on the Upper West Side. I teach all subjects including math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.

I have been tutoring for 3 years. Over the past three years, I have tutored children ranging from 1st grade through 4th grade. I have tutored in all subject areas, as well as for test prep. I enjoy working one on one with students and watching them understand concepts and achieving their goals, while making learning fun!

I teach 2nd grade and work closely with other teachers in various grades allowing me to see and understand other curriculums as well. I have also been tutoring students of various grade levels for 3 years.

I teach reading, writing, and vocabulary on a daily basis and understand what to work on to improve student’s skills. I am familiar with many different reading, writing, and vocabulary programs such as Pam Allyn Reading and Writing Program, Lucy Calkin’s Reading Program, and Fountas and Pinnell Reading Assessments.

I work with students on spelling, handwriting, and grammar on a daily basis and am familiar with many different top programs. These programs include Words Their Way, Steck Vaughn, Handwriting Without Tears, and Fundations.
