I have an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Cambridge, and an MA and a PhD in Literature from the University of Texas-Austin. I am also completing an MA in Jewish Studies, an MA in History, a second Ph.D. in Classics, and a law degree. I have over fifteen years experience working as a tutor for literature and writing (across subjects).

As an English literature and writing specialist, I have tutored students to help them develop their knowledge of various texts and to improve their ability to respond to literature. I currently teach at New York University and have taught at the University of Texas. Concentrating on writing, I have helped students with subjects that include history, politics, education, and the sciences. I have also assisted students at every level, from K-12 through to doctorate level, and helped with exam preparation for the verbal components of the PSAT, ACT, SAT and GRE exams, as well as GCSE, A-level, and International Baccalaureate exams. Extending into other humanities subjects such as history and geography, and languages such as French and German, I also have experience helping students improve understanding of key concepts and keep up with homework assignments.

I absolutely love teaching and I am keen to help students achieve their goals and work to provide the very best tutoring experience possible, tailoring my approach to meet the needs of the individual student.

Please feel free to contact me if you are looking for help with writing, test prep (PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE), or humanities subject areas (including English, history, geography, social studies, French, and German). I am always available via email and happy to discuss your particular needs in detail to explore how I might be able to help.

Wonderful, humorous, and knowledgeable tutor

I wanted some practice analyzing literature for my upcoming English final and Charlotte was very helpful and fun to work with. She is clearly very qualified with her academic background but she was also really good at just providing helpful tips & tricks for literary analysis that I will have to use on the exam; everything was communicated in a very down to earth and understandable fashion. She knows her vocab terms for literary analysis which was super helpful to me because I will be able to use them in my explications, as well as the general process behind analyzing texts through a specific lens. I will definitely reach out to Charlotte for help in the future with literary analysis/explication!
