Bio

I'm a writing instructor at Columbia University, where I teach students how to read incisively, write critically, and express themselves thoughtfully. I graduated from Princeton at the top of my class with a degree in English (summa cum laude), where I also received the department prize for best written senior thesis, and I attained my MFA in Nonfiction Writing from Columbia's School of the Arts.

I've tutored for over a decade, helping students with all manner of essays and writing assignments, including personal statements, application essays, book reports, research proposals, creative work, and more. I've received perfect scores on the SAT reading and writing sections, the SAT literature subject test, and the GRE verbal reasoning and analytical writing sections, and have helped countless students boost their scores in these and other standardized tests. I've also spent two years working as Columbia's pre-med advising department's in-house writing tutor, helping aspiring doctors craft effective personal statements for their medical school applications. I'm eager to apply these skills and experiences to my work with you: whether it's prepping for the reading section of the SATs or ACTs, working on college or grad school admission essays, outlining or revising tough essays for classes, or just practicing the fundamentals of good writing, I'll bring my experience, enthusiasm, and sense of humor to the table, to insure that you see progress.

My top priority as a tutor, beyond helping students achieve their goals, is to share my enthusiasm for the English language and for good writing. I am a kind and thoughtful editor and teacher, and I love helping people express themselves better through writing, finding the words to say what they want to say. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or requests! I always respond within 24 hours, and I'll do my best to meet your scheduling requirements.
