With more than 20 years of experience teaching ESL in the Los Angeles Unified School District at all levels - from children to working professionals - I feel I am a highly qualified candidate to tutor students in the field.
My most recent teaching positions focused on adult schooling, teaching ESL using a variety of student centered formats e.g. ‘traditional’ classes (levels 1 through 3), along with modified complementary individual and interactive group work, creating the highly interactive ‘Conversation Café’ (for levels 3 through advanced). In addition, I’ve held private tutoring in pronunciation, conversation, and grammar. My classroom is student centered with a lot of individual, pair, and group work, using different modalities according to students’ needs. I am supportive and sensitive to students’ cultural differences, creating a safe and inspired classroom.
My credentials include a Clear Full-Time California Adult Education credential with a focus in ESL. I’ve also substituted for various levels of ESL, so this position can be considered as well.
I would like to discuss my qualifications and goals for the position in person. Please feel free to reach out by email or phone if you would like to set up some time to speak.
