My nearly 30 years as a professional writer, editor and producer – along with experience tutoring teenagers (literature/writing) and guest teaching spots at New York University (music history) – help make me ideally suited to tutoring those who wish to improve their writing and reading-comprehension skills in English, as well as those who want to develop a thorough engagement with a wide range of literature (and literary journalism). I have been a professional writer and editor for three decades, ranging from high-end journalism to academic work, business/promotional writing and multi-media material. I graduated from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, followed by post-graduate study of literature at Georgia State University.
In my journalistic career, I have been deeply involved with music and culture, spending many years on staff as a high-level writer, editor and arts critic with such publications as Billboard magazine and The Star-Ledger daily newspaper of New Jersey, along with being a freelance contributor across the decades to magazines from Listen and DownBeat to Gramophone and Rolling Stone, among many others. I have written on jazz, classical and rock music, among other genres. I have also produced records and videos, including serving as chief editorial producer in 2015 for coverage of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
