After I received Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Oregon, I have worked in Columbia University for more than 16 years as a research scientist. My research was in condensed matter physics/physical chemistry/chemical physics using scanning tunneling microscopy. I have taught Math and Physics to junior high and high school students for many years while I am in Columbia. I love teaching students and helping them better understand concepts confused clearly. I am happy to see that those students get through difficult years in junior high and high schools and go to the desired excellent colleges.
I have enjoyed teaching mathematics [algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus] to high school students for many years. Previous students went Williams College, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, and Columbia University. Some of them are already pursuing professional careers at medical school and law school now. They received very good scores in SAT I, SAT II [750, 800], AP Calculus [4, 5]. I had also taught Math I [algebra, geometry, pre-calculus], Math II [trigonometry, calculus] in Korea. I minored in Math in college and had taught calculus and linear algebra in graduate school. Currently I am teaching algebra to students aiming for AMC 8.
I received Ph.D. in Physics, and I have worked in Columbia University for more than16 years as a research scientist. Since my research has been in the interdisciplinary area in physics, chemistry, materials science, and environmental science I can teach physics with some perspectives of physical applications to other science disciplines which will enrich scientific views to students. I have taught physics [regent, honor, AP] to high school students for several years. They received very good scores in SAT II [750, 800] and AP Physics [4, 5]. And I had taught several classes in college such as general physics, thermodynamics, physical chemistry, optics, modern physics, and solid state physics. Currently I am teaching two students aiming for Physics Olympiad next year.
I can help you better understand Math and Physics in all levels, and I am confident that you’d get good scores in SAT I, SAT II, and AP Tests in the near future. You can call/email me if you have any questions.
