Melissa has a passion for teaching that is grounded in science and healthy use of the voice. Her lessons are specifically tailored to meet each individual singer’s needs and goals through functional exercises.

Melissa has a passion for teaching that is grounded in science and healthy use of the voice. Her lessons are specifically tailored to meet each individual singer’s needs and goals through functional exercises.

With over fifteen years of singing and performance experience, Melissa is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Musical Theatre from The New School University. She completed all three levels in Somatic Voicework ™: The LoVetri Method for Contemporary Commercial Music and continues to attend teacher training courses with internationally recognized voice teacher Jeannette LoVetri. Melissa also studied vocal pedagogy at the Mannes College of Music with Dr. Kate Maroney and The Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University. An active performer, Melissa has been acting and singing in cabarets, TV/film, and Off-Broadway productions, including principal roles at the Harry De Jur Playhouse, Manhattan Repertory Theatre, and Times Square Arts Center. She is a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association.

Melissa received her Master of Science (M.S.) in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University (NYU) with a specialization in treating the professional voice and conducting voice-related research. She provided voice rehabilitation at Mount Sinai West ENT and over telepractice with the Lions Voice Clinic in Minneapolis. Melissa received her certificate in Performing Arts Medicine: Vocal Performance from the Performing Arts Medicine Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. She was trained by Dr. Katherine Verdolini Abbott in Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy (LMRVT) and Casper-Stone Confidential Flow Therapy (CSCFT). Additionally, Melissa participated in the phonation resistance training exercises (PhoRTE) workshop for the aging voice.

I have received training from top New York City speech coaches in accent modification and public speaking. In addition, I am currently completing a Master’s of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at NYU, where I am training to work with both native and non-native English speakers.

I developed reading comprehension lesson plans for school-aged children in my master's level Language Development and Disorders course at New York University. I am knowledgeable about working with typically developing children, as well as children with a reading disorder or impairment. Additionally, I have studied family strategies for further promoting reading skills outside of the classroom.

I am a graduate teaching assistant for the Communicative Sciences and Disorders Department at New York University. I host regular study sessions with students and answer questions in order to help them succeed in their course.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City. I have appeared in musicals and plays Off-Off Broadway at venues such as the Times Square Arts Center, Manhattan Repertory Theatre, and the Producers Club. I have experience in both private acting and vocal technique coaching sessions for audition and performance preparation.

Melissa is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy’s Musical Theatre Integrated Program and received her B.F.A. from The New School University. When not teaching, she is currently working on her M.S. in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at NYU, with the aim to become a singing voice specialist who can work with both healthy and injured voices. Melissa's vocal pedagogy experience includes the completion of all three levels of certification in Somatic Voicework ™: The Lovetri Method for Contemporary Commercial Music and a course with Dr. Kate Maroney at Mannes College of Music. She is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, New York Singing Teachers' Association, Somatic Voicework™ Teachers' Association, The Voice Foundation, Association for Popular Music Education, and Music Educators' Association of New York City.
