I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where I was part of the Business Honors Program. In addition to having a Bachelor's in Business Administration, I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a focus on Environmental Conservation. Upon graduation, I took a job in Houston as a Technology Consultant before giving that up and embarking on a multi-year-long trip around the United States and Asia. After returning home, I now live in NYC.

Throughout college I worked as a freelance tutor, tutoring students in a variety of different subjects, from business classes such as Accounting and Finance, to more inclusive subjects like College Algebra and Calculus.

I enjoy working with high school and college students, especially with test preparation for standardized exams. I specialize in tutoring for the GRE. My core belief is that a person can always do better than they previously thought possible.

For me, the first step in achieving your educational goals is to re-orient yourself in regards to education. I find it important to know why what you are learning is useful, and I teach accordingly. Math is not only necessary for great test scores, it is incredibly helpful in your everyday life. The same goes for the verbal-oriented subjects. The more words you know, the better you are able to communicate with your peers. Outside of my academic boundaries, I enjoy reading, writing, being outdoors, playing music, and dabbling in a variety of other hobbies.

After scoring a 339 in 2014 on the GRE (170 Math; 169 Verbal; 5.0 Writing), I've worked with a wide variety of students, ranging from those who only want to do passably well on the exam to those looking for the very top scores. I am familiar with the most common and challenging problems students face when tackling the exam, and have had a lot of practice teaching all the different types of learners. Aside from my knowledge of the tricks for scoring well, I pride myself on my patience and willingness to take the time to make sure each student

I took the GRE in 2014 and scored a 339 (170 Math; 169 Verbal; 5.0 Writing). Since that time, I've tutored close to 100 students, from those just beginning their studies to those looking to put a capstone on their review. I've helped a wide variety of students reach the scores they were hoping for, and have a great deal of practice facilitating understanding of the various pitfalls and tricks and the test.

Knowledgeable and Patient tutor

Rob does a great job of planning around what you need and want to get out of a lesson and is very approachable. I highly recommend Rob for other students looking to find a non-expensive and good GRE tutor.

Patient, caring and excellent teacher

I've learned from my search in finding the right tutor that although plenty of people may understand math well, they cannot teach it as well. Rob, is the first tutor I've met who can break down what seems to be the most complex problem into small, simple stages. I've learned more from spending solely one hour with him than in a long term classroom setting. He is patient, motivating and encouraging. I cannot find enough good words to describe how helpful his tutoring session was.

Detailed Review in Second Lesson

We reviewed in detail integer and average problems that will pop up on the GRE. Before the next session, a practice test will be worked on, as well as going over topics from this past lesson.

Very knowledgeable tutor.

Rob is very knowledgable about the workings of the test and helped me fill in some of the missing gaps in my math skills in our first meeting. I look forward to polishing my quant skills as well as well as reading comprehension skills to achieve an elite score.

Knowledgeable and friendly tutor

Rob was very friendly, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable. I needed help with the math portion of the GRE so we reviewed a few practice problems. He had a positive attitude which boosted my self confidence when doing math since it's a subject I don't like. He took the GRE exam which is a plus. I would definitely recommend him as a tutor!
