Hello! My name is Kevin. I am a radiation therapist and have also worked as a tutor for over ten years, instructing various subjects ranging from English Language Arts to Mental Health and Wellness to SAT Mathematics. I've been employed with several companies including one awarded the Best of Brooklyn Award in the Tutoring Service category. I have worked with students of varying ages and catered to each student's unique learning style. I typically work with middle schoolers and high schoolers to prepare them for standardized exams and to ensure that they are competent in the topics they are being taught.

Working with students, I draw upon a student's knowledge of existing principles in other areas of study in which they excel and use it to connect ideas in the subjects they want to improve. By fostering their confidence and creating a passion for their area of improvement, students tend to learn better with each lesson being a personal 1-on-1 learning experience. Furthermore, my students have the full disposal of my personalized online resources during off hours. Keeping up with new mediums of education including PowerPoint and YouTube, and drawing upon cultural and pragmatic functions of education, I am the tutor made for the 21st century. In turn, my students have provided me with new insights about their views of learning. It's a rewarding and beneficial experience for both parties!

My style of teaching math involves bringing in real-world examples of mathematics, especially for students who are dominantly hands-on learners. I have done research in various areas of mathematics to procure new strategies in order to accommodate students who have a difficult time using generic strategies in school. For students who have a greater proclivity for mathematics, I break down principles in order for them to better recognize patterns and methods that help them develop their advanced math skills.

Biology

I primarily focus on medical biology for introductory students. This includes anything from general physiology to topics in epidemiology. However, I also focus on environmental sciences, linking life sciences to meteorology. In my own experience, I have incorporated a sizable amount of education in the sciences, and as a result, I have a myriad of topics in biology that I can tutor. In addition to personal tutoring lessons, I also have a constructed set of introductory health lessons for students interested in delving into the medical field.

Spanish was my fourth language, complete with a B.A. I teach Spanish in the context of linguistics, for students who not only want to learn the fundamentals but the grammatical contexts of the language, especially in the United States. I have worked with both native and non-native speakers and both have their specific characteristics of learning that I am accustomed to.

As a graduate of a language and literature program, I have compiled several methods of instructing various topics in writing: idea generation, content and organization, and grammar. AMAZING TUTOR!

I am satisfied with Kevin SAT lessons. he helped me a lot, I really appreciated. The best tutor ever! he explains thing so easy and he is a patient tutor. He is so knowledgable, I am very bad at math but he motivated me so much that I was so confident to take this test after some words that he would give me during the lessons, also he makes classes so dynamic, with really good powerpoint presentations. I had a tutor before him, two days with her, she charge me 75/hr per class and wasn't worth It at all. After my first class with kevin, totally knew he would prepare me perfectly for this test! his rate is good, in the right balance, he was worth it. I took the SAT last saturday and think I did really good.

Kevin is everything I was looking for in SAT prep for my son. He is very organized and had a lesson plan all mapped out before meeting. Has a keen eye for detail in gauging my son's weakness. Very accommodating with busy schedule and willing to work with us. What I like most was he didn't move on until my son could do the problem on his own. Kevin is amazing! I am truly horrible at math, and thought I would never get it. But he makes breaks down the problems and explains it. He will explain the formula of the problem until you have a full understanding. He is very friendly and has tons of patients. If you have any issue with math, he is your tutor.
