Hello, parents and students! I'm Lauren, and you can think of me more as a private teacher / personal test trainer than as a tutor.

* Am I The Right Tutor For You? *

Many parents come to me after trying out other tutors and not seeing the results they were hoping for. I am the tutor for you if:

1) You are looking to make a huge jump — for example, from a 450 to 710 on the GMAT, or a 21 to 32 on the ACT.
2) You are a high-achieving student aiming for the Ivy League and looking to go from the 90th percentile to 99th percentile.
3) You looking to optimize every spare minute you have, while balancing a full course-load and extracurriculars, or holding a full-time job. (I work with many top student athletes and successful professionals preparing for the GMAT, GRE, and LSAT.)

---

* Why I Teach *

Tutoring is not just a job to me — it is my passion. I chose this industry because I absolutely love working 1-on-1 with students. I connect and relate with each of my students, instill confidence in them, and teach them the skills to succeed. I am often the first person my students text when they receive their scores and admissions letters.

I also know that conquering the psychological barriers standardized tests impose is often equivalent to, if not harder than, mastering the subject matter. Like many of my students, I was a very anxious test-taker, and I help my students work through these anxieties so that they can show their true potential on test day.

* All-Inclusive Rate *

I only bill for time spent in sessions. I do not bill for the many hours I spend outside of sessions, offering text support and creating lesson plans.

When I work with students, I create individualized curricula, track their progress and strengths/weaknesses, suggest the best materials, create study schedules and timetables for testing and retesting, work on pacing and test strategy, and so much more. I even code customized calculator programs for my ACT and SAT students.

I optimize time spent both in and out of sessions, so that my students see the best results in the shortest amount of time. I commit to tutoring full-time, only work with a select number of students at once, and am available round the clock to provide the best support out there for my students.

* About Me: *

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown in 2011, and in the top 10% of my class from a top private school in Northern NJ, where I took a combined AP / IB curriculum. I have been a professional academic and test prep tutor for the past decade, both privately and through a top test prep company, and I have worked with over 200 students. My specialties include GMAT, LSAT, GRE, ACT and SAT prep.

When I'm not tutoring or preparing lessons, I spend my time training for the New York Marathon, working on my young adult novel, and trying out new recipes.

I started my second company, Dating Ring, in 2013. Dating Ring was accepted into the prestigious accelerator, Y Combinator, and has been featured in many media outlets including the NYTimes, the Wall Street Journal, Time, Fox News, and Nightline. The company will be the focus of season 2 of the top podcast, StartUp, produced by This American Life's Alex Blumberg.

You are probably working full-time and don't have time to waste when it comes to GMAT prep. I will help you to achieve the best possible results in the shortest amount of time. I have ten years of experience helping students prepare for standardized tests, and the GMAT is my favorite test to teach. Two years ago, I was offered a position teaching for the top GMAT company, but I turned it down because it meant I wouldn't be able to continue teaching privately. Last year, I helped students see major score improvements, including from a 450 to a 710 (in one month!), a 530 to a 680, and a 500 to 610. I also assist many of my students with the B school admissions process.

Amazing and Friendly Teacher

Lauren’s help has been invaluable to me on my pathway to college. Her unique practice test based approach to teaching has allowed me to improve my overall ACT score by 5 points (29 to 34) and my subscores by up by 8 points (28 to 36 in math).

Stands out from all other tutors - a true expert in her field!

Lauren is a real expert when it comes to the new SAT. Samantha had worked with a few other tutors who didn't seem to know the main differences between the old and new SAT and how the test had changed. Lauren is the first true professional we have worked with, and it is obvious from the first phone call that she is different from other tutors. Lauren came in prepared, having already reviewed Samantha's PSAT score report and a practice test she completed in advance. She had created a lesson plan for Samantha that targeted the areas Samantha was weakest in. Lauren was immediately able to figure out Samantha's weaknesses and explain math concepts to her in a smart and empathetic way. This is the first time Samantha has ever raved to me about a tutor, and she is actually looking forward to studying the SAT now!

Super Experienced, Prepared and Professional

From our first call with Lauren to set up our son's first SAT prep session, we were blown away by her advance preparations. She asked the right questions which gave her the info she needed to hit the ground running. After just one lesson, our son feels more confident. He said the two hour lesson flew by and that he learned a lot. We are fans! Thank you Lauren!
