Hello! I am Ramon and I am a recent Master's graduate of CUNY Lehman College, where I majored in Health Education and Promotion. Though my academic background is in the health sciences, I am more than my major. I currently am a university administrator and I also teach college courses.

Simply put, I love learning and I love helping people learn! The way I see it, learning a little of everything helps to inspire creativity and ingenuity. I would never say I don't know something. I would only say "not yet" and work diligently until I do. I've officially been a college tutor for over 8 years, but I have much more experience as a coach and a personal trainer (10+ years). I worked one-on-one and in groups, reviewing course materials and presenting problems for students to work on.

I believe the point in tutoring is not to just give answers. I'm here to present ways for students to arrive at their own answers, discovering ways to think for themselves. I try to have a good time with my students, helping them relax and get their heads on straight. One of the most important things in learning is breathing. Apparently, we like oxygen, and so does our brain. It also slows us down, which helps us to take a step back and see the problem as a whole, as opposed to pieces. I act as a guide, helping students move in the right direction with their work, as well as directing their attention to more efficient ways of problem solving.

One of my main subjects. I've tutored many undergraduate and graduate students in related course, like epidemiology for undergrads. One of my goals is also to get a Master's in Applied Statistics, focusing on health research. The main principles of statistics remain the same; it's the perspective that changes. Along with that, there are some formula changes, but it's manageable. I also have experience in computations using SPSS and Excel. I help students here understand the implications of using certain testing methods and research designs when confronted with certain questions about healthcare research. I also consult with some researchers and help to conduct analyses after experiments. Some topics covered: -Predictive values, Sensitivity, Specificity -Sampling, Sampling error, Sampling methods -Experimental design, types of experiments -Within subject vs between subject testing -Parameters vs. Statistics -Odds, Odds ratio, Risk, Relative risk -ANOVA and post-hoc testing -Multiple Regression -Two-way ANOVA

I had a lot of trouble in high school chemistry with molecular and electronic shapes, ultimately failing the course. However, that changed in college when everything started to click. I've taken 2 years of chemistry courses, general and basic organic, and with each class, I've developed a sense of how molecules tend to orient themselves in space. I have tutored chem for 3 years and counting. However, navigating the program can be a bit tricky, and that's where I can come in. Along with SPSS, I'm handy with Excel.

Great tutor and very accessible

After going to the Math Department in my school for some tutoring lessons, I quickly realized I needed more of a one on one approach than the group setting that was being provided. With that being said I learned more with Ramon than I did the entire semester with my professor. My professor was too technical in his approach. Ramon on the other hand went step by step on how to work a problem, pointing out which numbers go where in certain equations and how to break down word problems. He was also very accessible, helping me answer questions by text message when I would get stuck. I highly recommend Ramon.
