Greetings! With an A. B. in English from Occidental College, a Master's in English from NYU, and a TESOL Certificate from University of California at Berkeley, my background has both depth and diversity. My style is lively, but thorough and makes use of varied readings, and film and current events. I teach the art of rhetoric-which is knowing the writer's audience, and have simplified a structure which visually explains the composition and research paper. In regard to ESL, my philosophy is that of communicative competence; I work to make certain my ESL students are understood and respected. Writing and communication are skills that are imperative for satisfying employment. In my prior life, I was a very successful research writer on a trading desk on Wall Street. Fine writing will serve a student for life; it is my belief and experience anyone can become a strong writer.
