I am a current high school Biology teacher with a Professional teaching certificate in NY State and a Master’s in STEM Education. I have been teaching for 16 years and have experience teaching Living Environment, Regents’ Prep Biology and Living Environment, AP Biology, Honor's, and General Biology, as well as, the Cambridge IGCSE Biology curriculum and the NY State Regents' Exam Prep. I have a 90% passing rate for students taking the NYS Living Environment Regents Exam. I specialize in differentiated techniques and combine content standards with study and learning strategies to help students learn how to learn not just what to learn. Additionally, I have taught students with IEPs, 504s and English Language Learners.
I have operated after school and lunchtime tutoring programs at school, and sponsored the National Honor Society. I am well known for the high standards and rigor of my course, as well as the hands-on nature of many of my assignments. When I find a student struggling to understand, I am, always, willing to adjust my style and technique. I stay on top of the latest strategies and am always looking to learn new and improved techniques. I am an AVID trained instructor, and incorporate AVID strategies into every lesson. I, also, use online resources and virtual labs to help students interact with the content. Thus, increasing their retention of the content knowledge and allowing them the opportunity to apply that knowledge in real-world settings.
