My father and my three siblings have all been teachers. We all share a natural curiosity and a need to understand explain and improve the world we live in. I find it very rewarding when my enthusiasm for learning is transferred to the students I teach. I have a BA in Psychology from Temple University and a PhD from the City University of NY in Biology. I have taught classes in Math, Nutrition and Biology at the college level, primarily to non-science majors. While working for a computer company, my job included teaching and tutoring customers, analysts/consultants and sales personnel. I also taught a basic curriculum at a private school for middle school boys.
My goal is always to teach for understanding and not rote memorization. There are many different learning styles and I have been successful teaching very diverse populations. I feel comfortable tailoring my lessons to the particular style and needs of each student. I encourage students to communicate their specific needs and to be honest and candid about how we're doing.
I look forward to hearing from you.
