Hi! I studied English and Philosophy at UCLA, and have been tutoring for ten years now. I've helped students achieve perfect scores on their academic papers, and improve their SAT, ACT, and GRE scores by as much as 25%. I feel very comfortable with students of any age, gender, or circumstance. I aim to try to make the sessions as painless and enjoyable as possible while maintaining productivity. I also hope to engage all of my students in a way that develops their active critical capacities...

A few words of shameless self-promotion so that you know you are getting your money's worth: When I was in high school, I scored a 2390 on my actual SAT. I entered UCLA with almost two full years of AP credits from twelve successful exams, and I received 5s in English Language, English Literature, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Biology, World History, US Gov, and Comparative Gov. I have also lived and worked in Mexico, and speak fluent Spanish.

Engaging, knowledgeable and dare I say cool tutor!

I was super impressed how Ian jumped right in and made my son feel comfortable. He was able to relate literature written hundreds of years ago to relevant subjects today making it easy for my son to make connections to the writings. He was both challenging and fun. Great tutor for anyone looking for someone intelligent yet relatable! Thanks Ian!

Great Experience

Ian was great to work with - he is passionate about the subject and encourages students to think about the subject in terms that they can relate to. He doesn't talk to you like some tutors do, he takes the time to converse and share ideas. Regardless of the subject, I feel confident that my understanding of the subject is greater with Ian's professionalism.

Great Tutor in Trial Session

So far, Ian connected well with my son through examples (Star Wars) and helping him critically think through improving an essay. This was our first session with him, a trial. We will schedule more sessions.

Connected well!

Ian found a way to engage my son (who hates writing with a passion) and engage him in the process of writing his essay. I would highly recommend Ian!
