I am a very successful learner of both English, and Chinese and I am a professional Chinese teacher. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese in Taiwan, and I have been providing online private lessons for years now. My lessons are highly personalized, mostly communication-centered. I am a very successful learner of both English, and Chinese and I am a professional Chinese teacher. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese in Taiwan, and I have been providing online private lessons for years now. My lessons are highly personalized, mostly communication-centered. I can teach both Simplified and Classical characters and I'm also familiar with the culture. With my almost decade-long experience living, working and studying in Chinese-speaking environments, I am happy to share what I've learned about functioning as a foreigner. I am very passionate about language learning and my goal is to pass this passion on to my students and help them to achieve their goals. Currently I'm a full-time Mandarin teacher at an independent school in Manhattan, but I really enjoy teaching adults, so I take private students as well.

I believe that learning a foreign language is much more than using different-sounding words to express our thoughts - it means learning a different way of thinking that allows us to explore new aspects of ourselves and the world. As a teacher my mission is to help others with this exploration by utilizing my two decades of experience and the latest achievements of foreign language teaching.

I have an MA degree in Chinese Studies from ELTE University, Hungary (graduated in 2004) and another MA in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from National Taiwan Normal University (2012). I have been tutoring and teaching for years, and I have experience with students from various background and of different ages and levels. Currently I have a day job as a Chinese teacher in a small independent school in New York City, and I also teach at a weekend Chinese school, where most of the students are heritage speakers.

Eszter teaches real-world interactions to make the learning experience interesting and enjoyable. Rather than rely on a static text with rote repetition, she engages in a collaborative process that guides the student to a greater understanding o the material. Another great lesson with Eszter covering many basics like greetings, numbers, days of the week. After the lesson she sends a recording of everything we covered which helps with improving pronunciation. We covered a lot of material! All really helpful.
