A graduate of Northwestern University and the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at N.Y.U., Michael's first play (co-authored with his brother Richard, now a department chair at a prominent private school) was produced Off Broadway and published. After completing his Ph.D., Michael turned his focus to fiction. His first novel was named one of the Top Ten Thrillers and Mysteries of the Year by Amazon.com. To date, he has published four novels, and they've appeared in English, French, Italian, Swedish, Japanese, as audiobooks and eBooks.
In between studying and writing, Michael has spent ten years as a teacher and tutor, five of those focused on writing students. The only process Michael loves as much as writing is teaching people how to write, which he does one-on-one in his private consulting business and as a tutor through Wyzant.
“I develop student writing skills on a basis of positive feedback, building a positive but focused academic environment that encourages the development of ideas. I guide students through a process of brainstorming, planning, drafting, and revising,” Michael says.
“I learn best one-on-one, and I believe that’s the best way to teach the writing process.”
